Charles Doherty
UK Representative

Charles Doherty  is a classically trained actor, producer, and former digital strategist whose eclectic background spans the arts, corporate innovation, and global marketing. Originally from Australia, Charles earned his BA in Zoology before completing a second degree at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. He went on to perform internationally across stage and screen, earning recognition as the Young Australian of the Year Award recipient (NT) for the Arts.

After more than a decade in performance, Charles transitioned into the digital world, where he built a parallel career as a senior marketing and web strategy leader. He served as Head of Digital for VocaLink and later led digital initiatives for global firms including Cisco, OpenText, and Reed Exhibitions. Across these roles, he spearheaded enterprise-scale website rollouts, developed content ecosystems across EMEA and APAC markets, and managed integrated marketing campaigns for clients in finance, tech, and media. He holds advanced degrees in E-Publishing and Marketing, alongside certifications in project management, UX, and creative storytelling.

Now based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Charles has returned full-time to his roots in acting and independent film. He plays a central role in Brendan Davis’s The Unwinding, and is actively helping develop the project into a feature as a co-producer. He is also Malkuth’s general point-of-contact in the UK as the company’s UK Representative, and is working to help develop several France–UK co-production projects at Malkuth, including One Shot.

His experience leading complex, high-stakes creative projects across borders makes him uniquely suited to the demands of international independent production. His strategic insight, logistical fluency, and creative sensibility make him an invaluable part of the Malkuth Film team—bringing a global, multidisciplinary perspective to artistic development and production.
